A bit late to be printed, but…..

Mr. Clendenen has done nothing to be reelected. There are those who note his years on the North Coast Railroad Authority (NCRA) board as a director. Mr. Clendenen as the Chairman of the same board told radio listeners the railroad runs through four counties. The railroad runs through Humboldt, Trinity, Mendocino, Sonoma, and Marin counties. This Supervisor has yet to return my emails concerning the railroad. He has not facilitated any groups to meet or work together. Apparently a warm body is compelling enough for some folks. It should be noted one Judge said that Rails to Trails is, “An unconstitutional taking of land.”

I was a conductor back in the eighty’s on the passenger train between Eureka, and Arcata. It only ran certain weekends, fourth of July, and Christmas season. The passenger trains have been well used. It brought your cities together, and everybody used it, for a small cost. It brought people in to the area. I propose a scaled down version of what Sonoma and Marin is getting on their rails. I propose using the same style of vehicles. Imagine using alternatives to creosoted wood such as concrete for ties. Using concrete would allow up to fifty years with reduced maintenance. Studies for passenger rail have been based on bus usage. People prefer riding the train, over riding a bus. It is time we do a new study reflecting current gas prices, not based on bus usage.
