Track work to begin downtown

Construction of the next major phase of the Napa flood control project — the relocation of two-thirds of a mile of railroad track and the construction of two rail bridges — is about to swing into high gear.

A new day for Wine Train?

Some city merchants are calling for a reconsideration of the longstanding objections to having Wine Train passengers disembark at the depot in town. At least one elected official, St. Helena City Councilwoman Bonnie Schoch, has said she is willing to consider the matter.
The shift in the climate comes at a quiet time in what began as a war 30 years ago and what has, in legal and regulatory terms, been addressed by the California Public Utilities Commission and California Supreme Court.
