A hearing on Novato’s lawsuit against the North Coast Rail Authority scheduled for Tuesday was delayed until Jan. 8 by Marin County Superior Court Judge James Ritchie to give the rail authority’s attorney time to review details, City Manager Dan Keen said.

A state Court of Appeals judge rejected the city’s bid for a temporary restraining order on pending railroad work last month.

The city filed its lawsuit in September, saying the authority failed to comply with environmental rules and ignored state open-meeting laws.
