The Arcata Eye covered the Humboldt Bay District on the issue of the railroad.

‘Not opposed’ vs. ‘environmental disaster’

Thorington continued, “I’ll close by saying just generally, Friends of the Eel River are not opposed to the railroad. We are for the protection of the river.”

There was also mention of the rumor of so many traffic due to containers, that a new line using the A&MR RR line, then going to Red Bluff. Looks to be just a rumor, even though rumors of surveyors in some of the railfan sites called the Pacific Rim Railroad here and here. I doubt it though. It doesn’t look like anything the NCRA is pursuing.
