The last post done in Nov of last year on this subject. Think about it, nearly a year has gone by since I got so frustrated with how long it was taking to build the fence and lease negotiations. There was even an article in the Times Standard before my post. The fence needs to be repaired to protect what the Harbor District calls the oldest Roundhouse on the West Coast. There is only three roundhouses on the West Coast. You would think the Harbor District would want to work quickly to protect these buildings. The notice for the fence was put up nearly a year ago. My other post on the subject. There is something seriously wrong when you cannot build a fence by now.
Long term lease is still up in the air. Both lease negotiators are trails folks. My opinion is by encumbering Timber Heritage Association, it makes THA look like they cannot carry out enough to need the Arcata to Eureka right of way(ROW). Thus speeding up their trails. Either that or the Arcata 805/08:05 club is pulling strings.

Another wonderful fundraiser for both Timber Heritage Association and the Clark Museum! A great turnout, weather was not bad, and everyone enjoyed themselves. With a little more work, I think the dinning car could be made available for catered food. Imagine the tourist train running from Samoa to Eureka. Such a ride will attract many people to come and say another night, helping the local economy. During the Fourth of July, runs between Eureka and Arcata will bring our cities together using alternative transportation.

Cleanup went well today, I figure we have cleared a total of 0.8 of a mile. Doesn’t sound like much, but lots of heavy brush, and it was fun in the speeders. I figure 0.2 of a mil to go of heavy brush before hitting the easy stretch near the main highway. The easy stretch is about 1/2 mile. Then about 1.2 miles of mixed heavy and easy areas. About 2.2 miles of railroad total we want to clear at this point. Map here.
We had 3 speeders running on the line.
On speeder, going backwards , most of the cleared right of way. Warning, very jumpy, and large file size.
